Banyan Tree Bangkok

After a wonderful stay in Banyan Tree Seychelles last year I was excited to explore Banyan Tree’s only city hotel. Banyan Tree opened their first property in Phuket in 1992 and since then they have been known for the very highest quality.

I would recommend people not to take Tripadvisor too seriously. This hotel is ranked number 55 in Bangkok where number one is a serviced apartment. In my opinion, this hotel is good enough for a top300 or top500 list of the best hotels in the world. It’s hard to say which position exactly because there are many great hotels, but it belongs to them.

Most city hotels are too focused on business, but in Banyan Tree Bangkok they had a nice detail which impressed me. Normally you won’t get a welcome drink in a business hotel and in resorts you’ll be escorted to take a seat and enjoy your welcome drink. In Banyan Tree Bangkok they give you a welcome drink while you’re at the front desk for check in, that’s different from any other hotel I’ve been. I like that detail.

In a city hotel, there will often be a lot of rooms and suites to choice from and that might have an impact on your overall experiences. I was lucky to be upgraded to a Banyan Tree Club Suite which was recently renovated, and I loved it. The design is just after my taste, and especially the bathroom looks amazing. The best feature of the room was undoubtedly the bath tub. You can sit with bath pillows and have a view of Bangkok; it was wonderful.

When you stay in a Club Suite, you will have automatically access to the Club Lounge, and it’s one of the better lounges I’ve been to with fine service and food. The biggest problem in this hotel is the small size of the swimming pool, but hotel manager Joseph Beck is aware of this issue since this is the thing people complain about when his getting feedback. It’s great value for choice a Club Suite because you get a lot of extra services that makes the experience even better. Complimentary internet, afternoon tea, laundry, bottle of wine and of course access to the club lounge. I don’t know if the service is much better for people on Club floor, but the service was excellent and close to being up with the best.

Overall a fantastic choice in Bangkok. Great value for a hotel that gives a different experience from most city hotels. As a frequent luxury traveller, I can say this hotel is an experience. Highly recommended.

My opinion: Great+ experience.
