Banyan Tree is one of the world’s most luxurious hotel brands and known for its beautiful contemporary hotels in exotic destinations. Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul opened in 2010 as the 2nd city hotel in the Banyan Tree-collection, but with a nice resort feeling attached to it. The hotel is housed in the former Tower Hotel, but feels like a brand new hotel with latest techonoly and the beautiful design Banyan Tree is known for. Only 50 rooms total and only 4 rooms on each floor makes it feel very private and personal.
The rooms are extraordinary where each have a small relaxation pool unlike any hotel I have stayed in the past. The bed is comfortable, the internet very fast and the rainshower is quite an experience with three different shower heads and a steambath feature. It also had the small natural amenities that are found in all Banyan Tree properties. While the rooms and hotel in general has a very attractive design, the service needs a little improvement. The main problem is the English level which is far from good enough for a brand like Banyan Tree. Most of the 200 staff don’t speak English and most of those that do was hard to comunicate with. That being said, they were all very friendly and smiling as you would expect in South Korea and Asia which is known for their hospitality. If you are Korean, I am sure you will find the service great, but for us, foreigners, its a problem when you can’t have a conversation with a front desk agent.
The food exceeded my expectations with a great breakfast buffet where you can mix your own juices. The facilities are always great with Banyan Tree and no expection here as the pools yet again impressed me, like its been the case with other Banyan Tree properties in the past.
Overall I rank Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul as a truly great experience due to its extraordinary rooms, design and breakfast. If they improve the service and English level among the staff it can become a really fantastic property.
My opinion: Great+ experience.
