Corral del Rey is a small 6-room hotel that’s been featured in Condé Nast Traveller and other magazines around the world. Being one of Seville’s most expensive hotels and with very beautiful photos, I was of course excited to see how good it could be.
I arrived to a warm welcome where you are offered a welcome drink of your choice. After a short registration I was escorted to the room. I stayed in a Junior Suite which really impressed me. Beautifully designed and with attention to detail. A welcome card with a nice local wine as welcome amenity was appreciated as well as the comfortable bed. Internet connection complimentary and fast. The only problem with the room was the street noise which was quite loud.
In terms of facilities, Corral del Rey would only be a 2-star, but that again proves facilities has nothing to do with a great hotel experience. Many Relais & Châteaux are the world’s best experiences and only 1-2 stars because of no facilities. Service is another thing the rating system don’t cover and it was really great at Corral del Rey. The staff went out of their way to help me with last minute transportation to a smaller town in Andalusia.
To sum up, Corral del Rey is a great small hotel that could easily be a member of Preferred Boutique or Small Luxury Hotels of the World, but with only 6 rooms it might be too expensive. You can count on a very personalized experience in a beautifully designed hotel.
My opnion: Great experience.
