Fasano Rio de Janeiro

After a wonderful experience in Fasano Sao Paulo, I arrived in Fasano Rio de Janeiro with very high expectations. I strongly believe Fasano Sao Paulo is one of the world’s best designed hotels. That is the main reason for it’s position as the 14th best hotel in the world according to Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List. Fasano Rio de Janeiro haven’t got the same recognizion, but I actually liked it even more. Let me explain.

I arrived in the hotel and was immidiately escorted to a deluxe suite, their highest category of suites and it was stunning. Absolutely incredible. Designer Phillip Starck have done an amazing job with the design which was a large open suite. I loved it.

Fasano is very famous for it’s food and Rio de Janeiro did not disappoint. I had a wonderful tasting menu for lunch which easily could have received one michelin star in Europe. Loved it and the staff were lovely and did great service.

The service level was better than expected. Brazil is not famous for it’s service, but Fanano had great service standards. The staff were in general very nice, but some areas had limited or no English skills. I could live with it as the important areas all worked. I wouldn’t call the service extraordinary, but definitely great and I liked it more than Copacabana Palace.

Overall an quite fantastic experience. The suite is unique and one of my favorites in the world. It’s true that Brazilian service is far from Asian standard, but Fasano did a great job and overall made it a very memorable experience in one of the world’s most exciting cities.

My opinion: Fantastic experience.
