I checked in and was immidiately impressed with the classical lobby and the front disk staff. Incredible friendly and professional and I was soon escorted to my room right away.
I stayed in a suite with separate living area from the bedroom. It was lovely in every way and with one of the most beautiful views I have seen. The only thing I could complain about the room was the bed, which should be more comfortable. The bathroom had seperate shower from the bathtub which had a Tv. I love trying new products and Les Trois Reis had local Feuerstein which was quite amazing. A products to remember for sure.
The minibar was fully stocked with lots of drinks and chocolates and all was complimentary.
A very nice detail instead of overcharged drinks as you see in most city hotels. The internet was complimentary as well and was very fast during my stay.
With only 101 I had expectations of personalized service and I was not disappointed. The people of Basel is in general some of the nicest in Europe and that could be seen in the hotel as well. Lovely mentality that makes a huge difference. All staff was incredible friendly, professional and attentive to details. I had dinner in their 2 star michelin restaurant called Cheval Blanc and it was an incredible experience. One of the best experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. Food and service was excellent and the third star can’t be far away. Peter Knogl won GaultMillau’s “Chef of the year 2011” in October 2010 and it’s very well deserved.
The location is fantastic as well and is only two minutes from the beautiful old town. This hotel was by the way the first I’ve seen to offer guests free public transport. You get a card at check in which you can use for public transport within the city of Basel. Excellent detail as well.
My last experience in the hotel was the breakfast and it was one of the bests I’ve had as well. Everything was very fresh and my eggs with salmon and mushrooms were made to perfection.
Overall a fantastic experience. I loved almost everything about this hotel. Service,
accommodation and food is world class and I can’t recommend this hotel enough. It’s a memorable experience which for me is hard to find in cities.
My opinion: Fantastic experience.
