Het Roode Koper
Het Roode Koper became a member of Relais&Chateaux 1 month ago, and I was very excited to see the level of this country hotel.
I arrived at the train station where the hotel picked me up before receiving a warm welcome from the receptionists. I was escorted directly to the room before the offered me a drink in the bar.
I stayed in a Grand Deluxe Suite which had a very homely feeling to it. It’s own fireplace and the most comfortable, soft bed I have ever slept in. The bathroom had nice products and a separate shower from the bathtub. Besides the homely feeling, I loved the fireplace and the beautiful views from the windows.
Het Roode Koper doesn’t have gym or spa and can therefore not be a 5-star hotel, but as said many times before: Stars have nothing to say when it comes to hotel experiences. It only shows how many facilities you have. Regarding facilities Het Roode Koper would be a 3 star, but regarding the experience, it is definitely a 5 star.
The dining experience was fantastic. The food was a real experience, and I find it very hard to believe Roode Koper doesn’t have a Michelin star. Sommelier Rik and the rest of the staff were very passionate and delivered personalised service at a very high level. Relais&Chateaux can be very proud to have this hotel in their collection.
Overall an excellent experience. It’s the most homely hotel I have stayed in my travels. Fantastic food in stunning surroundings makes it an amazing experience.
My opinion: Great+ experience.
