Hotel Orfila is a member of Relais & Châteaux and is a small palace built in 1886. The location is in the heart of Madrid and it was easy to find it after arriving with train from the airport. My experience started with a warm welcome and a drink in their very classical lobby. I was right after escorted to the room which also had a very classical design, kind of old school Relais & Châteaux-design. There are 32 rooms total at Orfila and 12 of them are Junior Suites. My Junior Suite was quite similar to my other Madrid hotel, I stayed 2 years ago, The Ritz. Classical and comfortable, but with a renovation needed. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a jacuzzi, but the products could surely be improved. Complimentary internet was provided and worked fine.
My stay at Hotel Orfila was very short, but I talked with several staff and got a great impression of the place. It feel like those “Grand hotels of Europe”, but without being big as it only has 32 rooms. There isn’t many facilities and the garden and restaurant is about it. I unfortunately didn’t dine here, but had a very good breakfast to end a great stay in the heart of Madrid.
My opinion: Great experience.
