Trinidad’s only waterfront hotel ended up being a big surprise for me. It does not happen often that a hotel exceeds all my expectations, but having stayed in many Park Hyatt hotels, I did not expect a Regency to have that level, but after my stay in Hyatt Regency Trinidad I am happy to conclude this is extraordinary for a Hyatt Regency.
Before starting this project I stayed in a few Hyatt Regency’s in USA which was quite memorable and that made my expectations for this property quite low. I was picked up in the airport by their friendly driver and arrived in the hotel to a warm welcome. I was upgraded to one of their new Hypo-Allergenic which had a beautiful contemporary design. The bed was comfortable, the Tv flatscreen and with a beautiful sea view. The bathroom had nice products and a rainy shower with perfect water pressure.
What makes this hotel great is the fact that everything works and are run very professionally. The service was very impressive with professional staff and very attentive service. Sometimes service becomes too much, like the breakfast experience where the staff would be around your table all the time to check if everything is OK. Some people love that so it will all depends on your personal preferences.
The hotel has a total of 428 rooms and the only thing to point out on the negative would be the long wait at check out. Personalized service is not possible with 428 rooms, but having to wait 10 minutes at check out was not very pleasant. Another thing would be that their beautiful spa don’t have saunas or steams which would have been nice to offer guests like it’s standard in Four Seasons hotels.
Overall a great experience in Trinidad and surely the best on the island. Highly recommended as the place to stay and with good value for money.
