InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa

InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa is one of the top choices in Bora Bora with rates starting at 800 dollars pr. night.

I stayed in the lower priced sister hotel on the night before and while it was very nice I had much higher expectations for Thalasso. I arrived with their complimentary boat shuttle and was offered a drink and towel before being escorted to the room.

I booked my stay with Priority Club points which is extraordinary value, but with one side effect. A family suite is the only option. I requested an upgrade to over water and because of my platinum status of Priotiy Club, I got it. The over water Villa was fantastic. Brilliantly designed everywhere and much bigger then the over water Villa in Le Meridien. The bed and bathtub has a beautiful view of the lagoon and it’s wow factors for first time visitors.

Because of the rates I expected better service in this resort than in their sister hotel and Le Meridien. It was a little bit better in some areas, but in general very far from the worlds best. Lots of the staff is from French, some of them is good, while some are only there as a “kind of vacation”. Finally, I think Thalasso was the first hotel ever without any dvd’s to offer it’s guests only chargeable movies on the Tv.

The internet is chargeable everywhere and they don’t even have computers where people can check their e-mails. Terrible and something to be aware of.

The spa was very beautiful like the rest of the hotel and that is what you pay for in Bora Bora. If you have low expectations for the service you will have a great time.

My opinion: Great experience.
