ITC Mughal

ITC Mughal is part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection, and that was my main reason for selecting the hotel. ITC Mughal is only a category two hotel which means you can book it for 1600 Starwood points and USD 30 in cash. Incredible value. As a Platinum member of Starwood, I got 500 Starwood points back and furthermore an upgrade to an incredible Royal Mughal Suite. It was recently renovated and beautiful classical stylish like in a St. Regis. The lobby and other areas have been renovated as well and looked stunning. My suite had a comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom with great raining shower, livingroom with working desk and sitting area. The renovation is still going on in the hotel, and their standard room looks quite bad, so make sure to get a renovated room.

The most important thing in a hotel is always the service, and it was very good. It was not on the same level as in Oberoi Amarvilas, but the rates in this hotel are four times lower. Later in my stay, I received a handwritten welcome card from the general manager who was a nice touch. The food is excellent. I had dinner in their speciality restaurant Peshawri, and it was a stunning food experience with excellent service. I also had an amazing spa treatment in their spa which is one of the most beautiful ones I’ve seen. The other facilities were good as well. I went to the gym, and it was great. The only disappointing thing was the breakfast. The breakfast area is too small, outdated and the buffet was simply not good enough. I hope they’ll improve it if I should return to ITC Mughal in the future.

Overall a surprisingly great hotel experience. It must be some of the best value I have seen in the world, and furthermore, I learned new details and experienced something unique. Make sure to try both Oberoi Amarvilas and ITC Mughal when visiting Agra.

My opinion: Great experience.
