Finding a great place to stay in Arusha was a challenge. I did a lot of research and though personal recommendation I found Legendary Lodge that are very hard to find. They don’t do any marketing or PR as it until recently wasn’t open to the public. After a few years with very low occupancy it finally opened to the public as Legendary Lodge, Arusha.
The hotel picked me up in the airport where the friendly driver took me for an easy 10 minutes drive to the hotel. The South African general manager Russel greeted and I was escorted directly to the room.
9 rooms total in Legendary Lodge and I stayed in their Tohe Suite. It was brilliant and beautiful designed. The bed was comfortable and the internet complimentary. It was much faster than I expected and it’s no problem to use Skype to call your family back home. The bathroom had a large bathtub and Molton Brown products. Legendary Lodge only has 9 rooms and I was excited to how good the service could be.
The service level exceeded my expectations. The staff had a great attitude and was very friendly and helpful. Peter was in charge of the service and is well trained. The biggest surprises was the food. It was great and almost Singita level. Legendary Lodge has the feel of a Relais&Chateaux and could easily be a member of this organization. I also loved the concept of Legenary Lodge which is all-inclusive, exactly as Singita. As you most probably need a stopover in Arusha before going to Singita this is a must. Also, keep in mind it’s only 10 minutes drive from the airport and the hotel will pick you up.
Overall it was one of the biggest surprises I’ve had. This hotel don’t do any marketing or advertisement and my review and Tripadvisor is probably the only information you can find. A Relais&Chateuax without being one.
My opinion: Great+ experience.
