Mandarin Oriental Bangkok

If you look at any list of the most famous hotels in the world, you will always find Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, formerly known as The Oriental. There is many reasons for that. First of all it’s an old hotel with great history all the way back to 1865. Furthermore it’s always been known as one of the best hotels in the world.

The minute you step into this hotel you know it’s something special. The lobby is incredible beautiful designed and there is a lot of staff to take care of you all the time. I was escorted to the check in counter where they informed me that I upgraded from Executive Suite to Melita Suite, which is one of their theme suites. A moment later I was on the higest floor of the hotel where the butler escorted me to the suite. The Melina Suite is extremly nice and features 100 square metres of pure luxury. There has been negative reports about rooms at The Oriental, but for me the only problem is the bathroom. They have updated all their Tv’s to flatscreen Tv’s, but their bathrooms looks very dated and needs an update. As soon as they have done that, The Oriental will again have rooms of the highest quality.

The facilities in this hotel is very impressive. I went to the health club and the facilities were impressive and the service the best i’ve experienced. The spa area looked nice and i’m sure it’s as good as people say it is. It’s located across the river, next to the Peninsula and the hotel offers complimentary boat shuttle service. What makes Mandarin Oriental Bangkok one of the best hotels in the world is it’s incredible service. An example is the elevator attendant who knew my name all the time, how is this possible? I was just staying for one night in a hotel with over 300 rooms and 600 guests. His name is Khun Anusorn Tiamsittaraksa and you can find an article about him by visiting Mandarin Oriental Bangkok on Facebook.

Another great thing is the butler on each floor; he was top professional, very attentive and service minded. It was a really hot day in Bangkok and I drank a lot of water. Each time I took the water and left the room, there was new bottles of waters when I returned. Happen all the four times I left the room. Excellent. Furthermore, I got a welcome drink after I arrived in the room and a delicious snack later in the afternoon.
Another rmemorable moment of my stay was the dinner. I ordered room service, and I was sitting on my balcony with a view of Bangkok and it’s river, it was fantastic, and the food was topclass as expected. I also had afternoon tea in the Authers Lounge and the food and tea were top class there as well.

My final conclusion on this hotel is easy. It really is one of the best hotels in the world. What makes The Oriental special is it’s history, service and the place itself. If you love luxury hotels you must stay here at least one time in your life. The rating can’t be anything but 10+/10. I was really impressed and I would love to go back next time i’m in Bangkok.

My opinion: Fantastic experience.
