Marlfield House is an intimate family run Relais&Chateaux with only 20 rooms. Located in Gorey only 80 kilometres from Dublin International Airport.
I arrived late afternoon and had a short stay, but decided to skip some sleep to explore as much as possible. Marlfield House has been a Relais&Chateaux since 1984 only 6 years after it was opened by Mary and Ray Bowe. Today, it’s still owned by Mary and Ray, but the daughters Margaret and Laura manages it.
I stayed in one of their suites and it had a beautiful classical style and was recently refurbished. The house itself is very beautiful as you can see in the photo I took when I arrived below.
Relais&Chateaux always require great food and Marlfield House didn’t disappoint. Great food and great service. What I liked most about Marlfield House was actually the service and the fact that the family is very involved in it. The other staffs were all very kind and with great attitude.
Overall a really great and unique hotel with it’s own character. No facilities, but with focus on service and food and that’s what’s creates an experience.
My opinion: Great experience.
