Palais Faraj is 5-star hotel with membership of Preferred Boutique and offers a very authentic experience in the historical city of Fes. 25 uniquely designed rooms can be found here just a few steps from the Medina. My experience started with a warm welcome and a welcome drink before being escorted to the room. I stayed in a Junior Suite with separate living room, working desk, comfortable bed and beautiful views of the swimming pool and parts of the city. The bathroom didn’t have separate shower from the bathtub which would be one thing to improve if they should decide to renovate the rooms in the future.
The authentic design is what makes Palais Faraj special. The service level is good, but can be improved to compete with the best properties in Morocco. In my opinion their direct competitor in Fes would be Riad Fes which is a member of Relais & Châteaux. There isn’t much quality difference between the two properties. Food is better at Riad Fes, but rates are lower here and perhaps better value.
The restaurant serves very good food with great service. Compared with my other dining experiences in Morocco I would place Palais Faraj in the middle. The stay ended with a good breakfast before traveling to Rabat to get my African visas. Palais Faraj fully deserves to be ranked as a great experience and I am glad to have had the pleasure of staying at their hotel.
My opinion: Great experience.
