Rihiveli is a unique small resort that could feel a little bit like a resort in a French speaking Caribbean island. 90% of the guests are French and it’s the main language of the island. The resort is very small and everything is within a few minutes walk which I really liked. The rooms don’t have numbers, but are instead named after different Maldivian fishs.
Rihiveli is very small and has only 45 rooms, which are all small villas. I stayed in a villa called Angelo and although small, I really liked it. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom products with a smell of mint and finally a great rain shower. The internet is available free of charge in the bar and reception, but I was surprisingly enough able to catch it just outside my villa which was very nice. Internet is very important for me and my project so glad I didn’t have to sit in the small reception and work. Rihiveli is 1½ hour head of Malé time which is unlike other resorts in The Maldives I have stayed. Always on Malé time or 1 hour ahead. The resorts ownes two nearby island which you can easily and safely swim to in 10-15 minutes. Quite unique and very nice as it makes the resort feel even smaller as well.
Rihiveli is not luxury in terms of gold and 5 stars, but I liked it more than many so called luxury resorts. It’s an intimate eco friendly experience on a small Maldivian island. The staff is a mix of locals and people from all over the world. Very friendly, helpful and I can definitely understand why Rihiveli is among the top rated in The Maldives on Tripadvisor. The food is so, so, but it’s like that in many Maldivian resorts. They have a themed dinner buffet each night for guests to try something different. There was Italian themed buffet the night I was staying there and it was more of less fine.
Overall a great experience in The Maldives, an island I would love to return to in the future. A great private island-experience with unique features with great value for money.
My opinion: Great experience.
