Round Hill Hotel and Villas

Finding the best hotel in Montego Bay is not easy. Round Hill is recommended by Vitousso and was awarded one of the 500 best hotels in the world in 2010 by Travel & Leisure. Round Hill furthermore has a 5 out of 5 rating on Tripadvisor and finally FlyerTalk recommended it as the best in the area so I arrived with expectations.

I arrived in Montego Bay and the hotel picked me up from the airport. The staff gave me a warm welcome before I was escorted to the villa. I stayed in their best villa. The master villa with own swimming pool, separate living room with sitting area, dining table, own kitchen and with it’s villas own outdoor shower. I had my own house and it was great however the villa was a little dated in parts. The service was not the best in The Caribbean, but still very good and the maid service was very interesting. A maid comes and cook for you in the morning. I would personally much prefer a professional cook to take care of the breakfast, but the breakfast was fully acceptable along with the rest of the food in the hotel which was very expensive though.

I always look for a great local experience I can’t get anywhere else. There is no doubt it’s a good local experience, but I don’t agree with the Tripadvisor reviews saying it was a memorable must do experience. Compared with the much bigger hotels in Montego Bay I’m sure I did the right choice though and I can definitely recommend it, but don’t expect one of the best hotels in the world.
