Shangri-La Hotel Putrajaya

After stays in many Shangri-La hotels, I now know exactly what the brand stands for. Their hotels are always up to a standard, but besides that it’s hit and miss. There are hotels within their portfolio that are among the best in the world, and then there are hotels on Hilton level. Their Putrayaja property is one of those. It must be one of the weakest Shangri-La hotels.

I got upgraded at check into a Deluxe Hill View Room, but it was very basis. The bath tub is separate from the shower, but that’s the only great feature of the room. It looks OK, but there is not a flatscreen Tv. The internet is free of charge as one of Shangri-La’s signatures, but it’s very slow and not recommended for business. Programs like Skype won’t work to call abroad.

The best thing about the room is the hill view of Putrajaya. The service is not impressive, but friendly and acceptable for the price. Because what makes this hotel a good experience is the value. Around $100 USD is very cheap for a Shangri-La hotel, but another thing is the food. It’s quite good and cheap. You can have room service for less than $10. I paid 7 for a good vegetarian burger. For the price, I can’t complain about the hotel, but don’t expect much if you have experienced a lot of great hotels.

So why did I stay here? The Location! If you have a morning flight out of Kuala Lumpur and only want to stay in good hotels, you only have an option of Pan Pacific and this. Having already tried Pan Pacific I needed this one to compare. Next time I will be staying in Pan Pacific.

My opinion: Good experience.
