Taj Palace Hotel Dubai is one of the cheapest 5-star hotels in Dubai. The Taj brand has given me some incredible experiences in the past like in Maldives, Cape Town and Udaipur, but I have also seen properties that are more standard business hotels like their property in New Delhi. This hotel is like that. The property is a bit tired including the rooms which on the other hand are spacious. I stayed in a standard Executive Room which would be comparable to my room at Taj Mahal Hotel in Delhi. Comfortable bed, separate shower from the bathtub, but general not with an impressive feel. Some of the furnitures was dirty and should be replaced. The most critical thing about Taj Palace Hotel is their chargeable internet. How hotels can torture guests by charging for internet in 2013 is a mystery for me. More and more chain hotels have decided to offer it complimentary in all properties including Oberoi, but in Taj they charge 30 dollars for 24 hours. So when you seem to have found a great rate for a 5-star hotel in Dubai you have to add another 30 dollars and that changes the good feeling completely.
The service was overall very good and professional at front desk. The breakfast buffet was not up to the stanards of the other Taj hotels I’ve stayed and would be something to improve. The facilities included a larger gym, but nothing was up to the standards of their competitor, Oberoi Dubai which is in a completely different league in my opinion.
Overall Taj Palace Hotel is one of the cheapest 5-star hotels in Dubai for a reason. It delivers a standard business hotel and if you have no problem paying 30 dollars pr. day for internet it’s surely a great choice for business travelers.
My opinion: Good+ experience.
