The Merchant Hotel

When you think about the best hotels in Europe, Belfast won’t come to mind among the first. After my stay in The Merchant Hotel, I can say it should. I stayed in this wonderful hotel for two nights as most people I wouldn’t expect a world class hotel in Belfast, but that’s what it is. I checked in, and the porter escorted me to my Deco Deluxe Room which was very nice, top class, spacious and beautiful. It had a superb design everywhere, and it is easily one of the best standard rooms in all of Europe. I especially liked the free standing bath tub in the bathroom.

The hotel does not offer a welcome drink, but there are chocolates at turn down service. It’s some of the best chocolates I’ve ever tasted and is made by the hotel itself. When it comes to food and beverages, this hotel is among the best in the world. Their bar has won many awards for best hotel bar worldwide, and all the food I’ve had in the hotel was fantastic. The breakfast is an experience too and probably the best breakfast I’ve had in Europe.

The hotel is extremely beautiful everywhere with an outstanding design, and I’m sure many luxurious travellers will be surprised how good it is. The hotel also offers nice health club facilities and do spa treatments as well. The value is excellent, but there is a reason for that. They don’t have enough staff to deliver top personalised service, and that is the only reason why this is not among the best in the world in my opinion. Overall I love the hotel, and I think it’s among the best in Europe. I would go back to Belfast only to stay here.
