Oberoi has given me many wonderful experiences in the past and with the opening of Dubai, a destination that rarely disappoints, I was very excited to experience their new property. 252 rooms total and nearly 350 staff which impressed me from the beginning. The check in was very impressive with a warm welcome before being escorted to the room by the receptionist for in-room check in. I stayed in a Deluxe Room which had a typical Oberoi design you can find in the newer properties including my previous experience in their Mumbai property. The design is indeed lovely and the rooms very spacious, but compared to previous stay, I was pleasant surprised to realize complimentary internet is now a standard in Oberoi hotels. The bed was comfortable, but could have been more soft like the ones you find in W and Four Seasons hotels which are widely regarded as the bests chain beds.
The bathroom was in many ways impressive, especially with the freestanding bathtub with beautiful city view, but also with faults. A rain shower is important, but the shower in my room wasn’t really good so although the rooms are great, they are not perfect.
It is very rarely I rank a hotel fantastic, but the service level in Oberoi Dubai really impressed me. First of all, excellent staff in all departments with a great, positive attitude combined with professional service. The facilities includes meeting facilities for the business traveler and a beautiful spa. The stay ended with a truly great breakfast. If you have read my articles in the past, you know I am picky with food and especially breakfasts, but here you won’t be disappointed. A large buffet with high quality items, a complimentary ala carte menu and finally excellent service makes it an experience in itself.
My stay at The Oberoi Dubai was short, but I loved every minute of it and I am pleased to finally rank a hotel “Fantastic” for a the first time in a long time.
