The Samaya has two beautiful 5 stars resorts in Bali and I am happy to announce both are now part of Hotel Passion. My first Samaya experience was in Ubud which has the number one spot on Tripadvisor based on guest satisfaction and after my stay I am happy to conclude there isn’t much to complain about. My experience started with warm welcome where the General Manager greeted me. Only 23 rooms total, but over 100 staff. 70% of the staff is from the nearby village and 100% from Bali making it a very local experience from that perspective. After the welcome I was escorted to the villa for in-villa check in. I was given the welcome drink in the villa along with fruits as welcome amenity.
I stayed in a Hill Side Villa with it’s own private swimming pool, jacuzzi in the bathroom, comfortable bed and complimentary internet with good speed level. What people love most about The Samaya is it’s service and the staff. I agree what they have a truly great attitude and because of the hotels size there is time to talk with them. It makes a difference compared to impersonal, bigger resorts.
The food at The Samaya Ubud is good, but far from the best in Bali as you would expect. Chains like COMO, Four Seasons, Regent and Starwood obviously have better network to find the best possible chefs. That being said, the fruits and vegetables was very fresh and organic which is very important in my opinion.
Overall a great experience to the portfolio. Would place them as a mid-option in Bali which all depends on your budget. If you can afford St. Regis or Four Seasons they are better choices, but if you can’t The Samaya is certainly one to consider.
My opinion: Great experience.
