Please note this hotel is now re-branded as a Luxury Collection Hotel called: The Hongta Hotel. – My original reviews are as follows: St. Regis is one of the most prestigious hotel brands in the world, and all their hotels look top class. St. Regis Shanghai is the cheapest St. Regis hotel in the world and the only Starwood category four property. Keeping that in mind I still expected a St. Regis experience, and that’s just what I got. As a Starwood Preferred Guest Platinum member I was upgraded to a Grand Deluxe Suite which had St. Regis’ famous classical design and was very comfortable. The general manager Nick Porter welcomed me in the elevator on the way to my suite, and it was a nice detail as this often only happens in resorts. As Platinum, I also had access to their lounge, and it was nice. Great selection of food and beverages combined with great service. The facilities needs an update such as gym and spa, but the general manager is very well aware of this, and it will be updated soon. I had their signature spa treatment, and I can highly recommend it. A must do a thing in the hotel is to visit their Italian restaurant Danieli’s. It’s a world-class restaurant, and I went there three times, and I miss their food and service.
I returned to the hotel after a stay in Four Seasons and this time I got upgraded to a Mandarin Suite. It is their third highest category of their suites and a little better than the Grand Deluxe Suite. Overall this is up to St. Regis standards in many ways. I will for sure stay here next time I visit Shanghai. There are reasons why I love St. Regis and this hotel is one of them.
My opinion: Great experience.
