I am often asked about my favourite countries, but what about the most positive surprises? Here is my top 10.
Rwanda is one of the safest and most beautiful countries in the world. Furthermore very affordable and with friendly people. What’s not to like? It’s a magical place, I didn’t quite expect to love when arriving in Kigali.
Part of the Sovjet Union until 1991 and I didn’t quite expect Estonia to be a fantastic experience, but it really was. The unique capital of Tallinn is one of the few places in the world, I would like to live. It is much like Scandinavia and a magical feel to it.
3. South Africa
South Africa is probably my favourite country in the world. It has it all. Unfortunately also a high crime rate and that is why I didn’t expect to like it much, when I arrived for the first time in 2011… But I loved it. It has everything and I could travel here for years and still find things to see and do. Combine that with excellent food and wine… and amazing people.
9. Saba (territory)
10. Ivory Coast
