Uma Ubud

COMO is a smaller collection of high end hotels with focus on the design. After a great experience with Metropolian Bangkok I arrived excited to see my first COMO resort.

I arrived in the afternoon and received a warm welcome from the receptionists before I was offered a cold towel and a drink of pineapple juice. After a converstation and registration of my stay I received an escort to the room.

I stayed in their lowest category, a Deluxe Room. It was by far the smallest room I’ve had in any Asian resort, but still very nice. Very simple design, flatscreen Tv, comfortable bed, small garden and a little out-dated bathroom.

The service level was great. Lovely staff that delivered service that wasn’t too formal as that isn’t what I like. The right attitude means everything and Uma have found extraordinary staffs. Some areas could have better English skills and more training, but that’s the only thing I would be able to point out.

The facilities included a nice gym and spa. I didn’t have a treatment, but other reviews highly recommend it.

The food was a little overpriced, but it’s often like that with chain hotels. I loved the breakfast though which only is ala carte. I’m not a fan of buffets and think every small hotel only should do ala carte.

Overall another really great experience in Bali. This place belong in a long list of incredible resorts with extraordinary value. The rooms may be a little to basic and is overall not my personal favorite, but I can’t recommend the resort enough. Could easily be included in most lists of the world’s best hotels.

My opinion: Great experience.
