Vivanta by Taj Coral Reef Maldives

Located on Hemdadhu Island in the Maldives, Vivanta by Taj offers a world class food experience combined with a nice accommodation on a beautiful island. I arrived from a 45 minutes speedboat from Male and escorted me to the reception for the check in procedure. After a welcome drink and registration I was escorted to my beach villa which was quite small for a villa, but very comfortable and featured a flatscreen Tv, comfortable bed, bath tub and indoor- and outdoor shower.

The villa is located a few steps from the beach and is very convenient. I found the villas nice, but not top class as some of the other villas I’ve been to around the world. The service is too basic for me, none of the staff delivered professional service so don’t have too high expectations for that. They were friendly, but that’s it.

What makes this hotel unique and special is the food. It’s outstanding. Both the room service and my dinner with chef Alvin was outstanding. The dinner experience is called “Dinner with Chef” and you see the chef makes the food right in front of your eyes. The food was some of the best I’ve ever had, and the breakfast was excellent too. If they improve, their villas and the service this resort would be a fantastic experience. The hotel offers a lot of facilities like all other Maldives resort so you for sure won’t get bored during your stay. The Internet is chargeable at the hotel with 5 USD per hour and they don’t offer complimentary internet elsewhere in the hotel.

Overall I’m satisfied with my stay in Vivanta by Taj. My villa and the service was not as good as I hoped for, but the food exceeded my expectations by far, and that is vital in an island resort where you don’t have a second choice like in the cities.
