Dubai is one of my favourite cities in the world. A city that can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. Using a search engine will show you cheap hotel rates in the summer and cost of living is not as bad as you might think. There are a few low-cost airlines operating to Dubai, including Air Arabia and Norwegian, but the cheapest from Europe is by far Wizz Air.
You can fly from Budapest, Bucharest and Sofia from as low as 65 Euros one way. Wizz Air is also an airline you should follow on Twitter and perhaps sign up for their newsletters to receive special offers. Today you can get a free companion ticket. A round trip ticket from Europe to Dubai for 65 Euros is hard to beat!
I have flown Wizzair a few times and while the concept is similar to Ryanair, with charges for everything, I find the comfort and flight experience to be better. Ryanair is officially a 2-star airline according to Skytrax while Wizzair gets three stars, the same as many national carriers. Wizzair flies to the new Dubai World Central as one of the only airlines at the moment. It means fast immigration and no queue at security. A big plus in my book.
Dubai is far from the only low-cost destination Wizz Air offers 97 destinations in 35 countries total. I can highly recommend Wizz Air for the value for money if you can travel light. Make sure you book online as a call to their call centre cost 0,95 euros per minute and can easily cost more than the ticket itself. Wizzair is similar to most low-cost carriers and if you keep this in mind, you can get yourself an incredible flight deal again and again.
